Australian Lithuanian sports people are united under a national federation called the Australijos Lietuvių Fizino Auklėjimo Sąjunga or ALFAS. Since 1950, ALFAS has helped to coordinate an annual Sporto Šventė in an Australian city or regional centre. The Sporto Šventė has been run continuously since that time, with only the forced 2 year hiatus due to COVID-19.
The Australian Lithuanian Sporto Šventė allows sports people from ALFAS sports clubs to come together to build upon lifelong friendships and friendly rivalries while enjoying some of the sports that our Lithuanian culture is globally renknowned for, including basketball, volleyball, tennis, golf, table tennis and billiards.
Current ALFAS Clubs include Brisbane BALTIJA, Sydney KOVAS, Canberra VILKAS, Melbourne VARPAS and Adelaide VYTIS. We also occassionally have athletes from Hobart ZAIBAS and Perth TAURAS participate at Svente.

70th Sporto Svente 2022
The 70th Sporto Svente represented a major milestone - the PLATINUM anniversary of the Australian Lithuanian Sporto Svente.
Sydney KOVAS hosted the 70th Sporto Svente with most events held in the southern Sydney suburbs of Menai and Revesby. Over 150 participants played sports including basketball, volleyball, golf, billiards, darts, tennis, table tennis, swimming and nordic walking.

69th Sporto Svente 2019
For the first time ever, the 69th Sporto Šventė was held on the NSW Central Coast at Terrigal in December 2019.
At the 69th Šventė, we had sports people participate from Sydney KOVAS, Brisbane BALTIJA, Melbourne VARPAS and Adelaide VYTIS, playing Basketball, Volleyball, Tennis, Golf, Billiards and Darts.
It was a hugely successful event and saw the return of Junior Basketball to šventė after a very long absence.
