2024 Social Calendar
The Kovas Committee are currently working on the 2024 Social Calendar dates. Confirmed events for 2024 include:
- Social Get-Together and Dinner at Concordia Club - 10 August 2024 from 4pm
- 2 November 2024 - Picnic Day at Lane Cove National Park - from 2pm at the Casuarina Point (Site 30) picnic ground
- 20 October, 10 November and 1 December 2024, Kovas will host Junior and Seniors Basketball Training, 2pm to 4pm at Concord Oval Recreation Centre
- 27 December - Opening of the 72nd Sporto Šventė and Australijos Lietuvių Dienų (ALD)
Kovas Picnic - Lane Cove NP
Saturday 2 November 2024 from 2pm
Kovas is having a Picnic Day! We invite everyone in the Sydney Lithuanian Community to a fun day out in the Lane Cove National Park. Come and have a BBQ, enjoy nature, play some fun games and meet up with other Lithuanians from around Sydney.
Kovas will be running some games like Volleyball and Tug-o-War and also selling Sausages, Salad and Bread for a picnic in the park.
Come and hear about the latest news for the 2024 Sporto Šventė in Adelaide! Entry is free to our event (note, entry to the National Park is $8.00 per car).
Casuarina Point picnic ground in Lane Cove National Park is a charming sheltered picnic area nestled against the Lane Cove River bank and has both picnic tables and barbecues, making it a great place to while away an afternoon with family and friends. Located in a lovely bushland setting, it’s also a great spot for birdwatching along Lane Cove River, with plenty of opportunities to see water dragons!! There are also many opportunities to get active in the surrounding Lane Cove National Park including canoeing, bushwalking and fishing (NSW fishing licence required). Two historic cottages, Schwartz and Bakers, are also nearby.
Casuarina Point picnic area has capacity for up to 100 people. There are 3 covered picnic tables that seat 24 people in total, or up to 40 people standing. There's also a picnic table outside of the shelter that seats 12 people. Parking is available for up to 30 vehicles. Read more about Casuarina Point and Lance Cove NP

Basketball Training 2024
Basketball training commences on Sunday 20 October 2024 at Concord Oval Recreation Centre (8 Gipps Road, Concord).
Three training sessions have been booked for Sporto Šventė preparation on Sunday 20 October, 10 November and 1 December from 2pm to 4pm.
Training is open to Junior and Senior players. Juniors are targeted at age 9 to 14 years. Senior players is open to Men and Women who would like to play at the 2024 Sporto Šventė in Adelaide.
Juniors - 2pm to 3.15pm
Seniors - 2.30pm to 4pm (shared court 2.30 - 3.15pm)
Training is free for Kovas Members, or $10 per person for non-Members.
Lithuanian Sunday Lunches
The Sydney Lithuanian Club organises a Sunday Lunch on the first Sunday of each month at the Latvian Club, 32 Parnell St, Strathfield. Lunch starts from 12pm.
Menu items may include BALANDĖLIAI, CEPELINAS, KOLDŪNAI, KUGELIS and LIETINIAI but due to the limited cooking facilities at the Latvian Club, the menu does change from time to time and orders are often required in advance to avoid disappointment. Lithuanian pantry items may also be available to purchase, including bread, herring and Šakotis cakes (while stocks last).

Australijos Lietuviu Dienu 2024
The Adelaide Lithuanian Community will be hosting the 32nd Australijos Lietuvių Dienų (ALD) from 27 to 31 December 2024.
Multiple cultural events will take place, including:
- 72nd Sporto Šventė
- Art Exhibition
- Literature recital
- Youth Concert and Disco
- National Dancing concert
- Choir concert
- Turgos (Market)
- New Years Eve Party
- Scouting camp
